石城，位于江西省东南部、赣州市东北部，地处赣闽两省五地交汇处，建县于公元953年，因“环山多石，耸峙如城”而得名。

石城是客家先民南迁的重要中转站，是东迁闽西、南下粤北的重要节点，是“全客县”，素有“客家摇篮”“闽粤通衢”之称。县内保留着千年宝福院塔、古驿道、南庐屋、古民居群等众多客家遗址；石城是“中国灯彩艺术之乡”“中国民间文化艺术之乡”，石城灯彩和石城砚制作技艺属*家级非物质文化遗产。客家文化的滋养，造就了石城热情好客、开放包容的良好民风，“请客不收礼、节俭办宴席”传扬四方。
石城，是长征起点，红色故土
石城是中央苏区全红县、中央红军长征重要出发地，红三军团和少共国际师从这里踏上长征路，毛**、朱*等老一辈无产阶级**家在石城生活、战斗过。石城阻击战旧址、红五军团秋溪整编旧址、太雷县苏维埃政府旧址、中华苏维埃政府国家银行金库旧址以及那些老屋上刀刻墨书的红色标语，都是苏区时期烙下的红色印记。
石城，是赣江源头，生态福地
石城是江西的母亲河——赣江的发源地，源头1.1万公顷范围被列为*家级自然保护区，负氧离子含量达每立方厘米10万个单位。全县森林覆盖率达76.01%，被列为国家重点生态功能区、国家生态综合补偿试点县，同时还是国家生态文明建设示范区。
石城，是旅游胜地，风光秀丽
石城旅游资源丰富，“寻赣江源头、走闽粤通衢、淌高山流水、沐峡谷温泉、赏百里荷花、览百年杜鹃、穿尘封遗址、缅红色记忆、探丹霞地貌、品千年遗风”成为旅游特色品牌。地热资源丰富，全县探明温泉点7个，日出水量超1.5万吨，森林温泉、天沐温泉、花海温泉、九寨温泉等4个特色温泉广获好评。近年来，石城立足良好的生态优势、独特的人文景观、丰富的地热资源，大力发展生态旅游和乡村旅游，可以说是处处皆风景。石城先后获评国家全域旅游示范区、国家卫生县城、中国温泉之城、中国最佳休闲度假旅游县等荣誉称号。
